Ocean County Org. Helping Recovering Addicts Find Jobs
Ocean County's Mental Health Association announced a state-funded program to help people and families affected by opioid addiction.

The Mental Health Association - Ocean County began providing services in the state-funded "Pathways to Success" program. The program individuals and families affected by opioid addiction with finding jobs.
"Pathways to Success" is available in Ocean County through December 2020. The program focuses on employment because holding a job is pivotal in long-term recovery for individuals and their loved ones, according to Racheal O’Dea, Executive Director at the Mental Health Association – Ocean County.
The grant is expected to cover 100 residents. Local agencies will refer participants to "Pathways to Success," but the program encourages members of the community to reach out for assistance.

"Many people might expect that a program like this is strictly for individuals in recovery," O'Dea said in a statement. "But that’s partly what is really unique and great about this. Family members are eligible for help, too. People who lost work as a result of stress and helping a loved one are included."
Services include one-on-one case management for employment, job coaching/mentoring, assistance with expungement and applications, and help with resumes and cover letters. Funding is available on a case-by-case basis for training, text exams, bus passes, short-term childcare, clothing and other types of reimbursements.

High-demand jobs in customer service and sales have been approved for credentialing through "Pathways to Success." Continuing Education Units (CEUs) are also available.
The program will also offer non-clinical support for mental and physical health to participants. Family members have the option to meet with specifically trained, experienced staff who can provide case management and offer strategies for stress management and coping skills.
The New Jersey Departments of Labor and Mental Health and Addiction Services provides the grant. Five other counties most affected by opioid addiction received it as well: Atlantic, Camden, Essex, Middlesex and Monmouth.

Shore Drive, Toms River. Appointments are available. Walk-in hours are Monday to Friday 9 am to 5 pm; evening hours are available by appointment.
