UPDATE: Ocean County Prosecutor's Office Confirms Death Of Berkeley Township Police Officer

The Ocean County Prosecutor’s Office has confirmed the death of Berkeley Township Police Officer David Moody on Sunday night.

Officer Moody was 36 years old. No further details will be released, said spokesman Al Della Fave.

The case has been transferred to the Monmouth County Prosecutor’s Office due to a conflict of interest, Della Fave said on Tuesday.

“On behalf of Ocean County Sheriff Michael Mastronardy and the entire staff our thoughts and prayers go to out Berkeley Township Police Department,” a post on the Ocean County Sheriff 911 Facebook page read.

Members of the Berkeley Township Underwater Search and Rescue Squad also posted on their Facebook page.

“It is with heavy hearts that we mourn the passing of our dear friend and squad member Dave Moody,” the post read. Please keep his family in your thoughts.”
