UPDATE: Ocean Gate Elementary School Open For Business Friday

Students were evacuated Thursday morning after contractor struck a gas main, mayor says.

Students at the Ocean Gate Elementary School got a surprise day off on Thursday when a contractor working on a water main struck a gas line by the school, Mayor Paul J. Kennedy said.

But Friday, it’s back to business. The school will be open.

The students were transferred to Adrian Hall on Thursday, where they were later dismissed for the rest of the day, Kennedy said.
