A high-ranking Port Authority officer was charged with violating a domestic-violence restraining order and contempt of court, according to the Ocean County Prosecutor's Office.

Lt. Steven Adelhelm, of Bayville, was arrested twice last week for violating a restraining order and harassment, the Asbury Park Press reported. Adelhelm has been suspended without pay, Port Authority spokesman Steve Coleman told NJ.com.
