A fire burning at the border of Berkeley Township and Ocean Gate is causing smoky conditions Sunday morning, officials say.

BERKELEY, NJ — A brush fire on the border of Berkeley Township and Ocean Gate is causing smoky conditions Sunday morning, authorities said.

The Bayville Volunteer Fire Department first reported the fire at 6:30 a.m. Sunday, saying there was a "large brush fire" near Ocean Gate Drive.

"Please utilize caution in the area while driving," firefighters said. "Smoke will impact the area throughout the day."

The blaze is in the area of Louis Avenue and Ocean Gate Drive, according to the New Jersey Forest Fire Service, which is on the scene.

As of 8 a.m., the fire spanned multiple acres, though specifics were unavailable, and it was 0 percent contained.

It's expected to reach 10 acres before being fully contained, according to the Forest Fire Service.

Three structures are currently threatened by the fire. Ocean Gate Drive will be closed until about 12 p.m. due to the smoke.
