PINE BEACH, NJ — A pedestrian was struck by a vehicle and airlifted to the hospital Wednesday evening in Pine Beach, according to police. The pedestrian is in stable condition, Pine beach police said.

Authorities responded to the incident on Atlantic City Boulevard at 10:53 p.m. Wednesday. Two males drove to 7-Eleven, and the driver thought he put the vehicle in park when it was in reverse, police said.

Both of them exited the vehicle as it rolled backwards toward Route 9. The passenger ran behind the vehicle to try and stop it from entering the road. The vehicle hit him and came to rest on his chest. The driver returned to the vehicle and drove it off the passenger.
