Pedestrian Struck On Route 9 In Bayville, Airlifted To Jersey Shore

Accident happened at 7:38 p.m. on Tuesday.

An unidentified, semi-conscious man was airlifted to Jersey Shore University Medical Center early this evening after he was struck by a van on Route 9 in Bayville, Berkeley police said.

Berkeley police responded to the report of a pedestrian struck on the 500 block of Route 9 near the Trinity Methodist Church at 7:38 p.m. Officers found the man laying in the roadway, bleeding from the head and face, police said.

The man was struck by a Crest Dry Cleaners van driven by Paul Denoia, 38, Bayville. Early eyewitness reports indicate the man was standing in the middle of the roadway, police said.

The man was flown to Jersey Shore by MONOC 1. The accident is under investigation by Traffic Safety Officer Rodney Flanegan. Anyone with information is encouraged to contact Police Headquarters 732-341-6600.
