Peeper Wore Women's Undergarments, Did Lewd Acts In Berkeley: Cop

Much of what became a local scare was caught on video, police said.

A New Jersey man was busted this week for wearing women's undergarments, committing lewd acts and peeping into windows – much of which was caught on video, police said.

Justin Guy, 26, of Berkeley was charged with one count of criminal trespass (peering) and invasion of privacy. Guy was released on a summons. Police are crediting local residents for tipping off police and sharing pictures of the suspect in what became a local scare.

The incidents were first reported on Sept. 20 when the Berkeley Township police responded to a Jamaica Boulevard home in reference to a suspicious incident, police said.

The victim reported that their surveillance cameras had an image of a person, dressed in female undergarments, peeking into windows. The subject was "committing lewd acts to himself," police said.

The video then showed the subject leave the area. This incident occurred in the middle of the night near a wooded area, police said.

As a result, Berkeley Township police initiated an intense follow-up investigation. This included neighborhood interviews, surveillance footage retrieval, person-of-interest interviews, neighborhood watches and press and social media posts. Soon, many leads began to come in, police said.

The public was actively involved in providing these leads. Many leads were reported to officers working their patrol routes, as well as via many emails and calls to the Berkeley Township tip line. Community involvement was essential to the identification of this suspect, police said.

On Wednesday, a break in the case from one of these leads occurred, resulting in police contacting a subject on St. George Street in Holiday City. The subject was identified as Guy, police said.

This contact quickly developed into information which led to a search warrant, which was executed at approximately 8:15 p.m.. Evidence sought by the detectives believed to be directly linked to the initial crime was located in the home.

Guy was placed under arrest and transported to police headquarters for processing.
