Primary Election In Berkeley: When, Where To Vote

BERKELEY, NJ — Voters will be heading to the polls on June 6 for New Jersey's primary election.

This year, Berkeley residents will be electing a new mayor, and three Township Council seats are up for grabs.

Berkeley is also voting for the Ocean County Surrogate, one Commissioner seat and for a State Senate and two General Assembly seats.

The municipal primaries are uncontested.

Who's On The Ballot?

• Mayor: Current Council President John Bacchione is seeking the Republican nomination. The Democratic candidate is community advocate Kia Phua.
• Township Council: Councilmen Keith Buscio and Thomas Grosse are seeking another term as the Republican nominees. They are joined by Berkeley Township Board of Education member Douglas Bowens. Seeking the Democratic nomination are Mary K. Curtis, Alexis K. Loftus and Frank D. DeMaio, IV.
• Surrogate: Incumbent Jeffrey W. Moran seeks another term as the Republican candidate. Charles D. Bauer seeks the Democratic nomination.
• County Commissioner: Both Frank Sadeghi and Francis "Frank" Quinn are seeking the Republication nomination for one seat. Running uncontested for the Democratic nomination is Roxanne L. Barnes.
• General Assembly: Two seats are open in the Ninth Legislative District. Running together for the Republican nomination are incumbent Brian Rumpf and Stafford Mayor Greg Myhre. Joseph Atura and Sarah "Sally" Collins are seeking the Democratic nomination.
• State Senate: After the retirement of Sen. Christopher Connors, Berkeley Mayor Carmen Amato is seeking the Republican nomination. Gabriel Franco is seeking the Democratic nomination.
