Whitney was on patrol when he noticed a skunk frantically scurrying around circles, its head stuck in a Burger King orange juice carton.
He was able to yank the box from the animal’s head after several tries.

But he cautions the public not to approach wild animals if possible.
“Skunks are a primary source of rabies in many areas of the United States,“ according to the police department‘s Facebook page. “Human and domestic pet contact with skunks should be avoided. If it is necessary to handle a skunk, take all precautions to keep from being bitten or scratched. Several other types of diseases and parasites affect skunks such as distemper, mange, fleas, ticks, lice, roundworms and tapeworms.”
If you see a wild animal, leave it to professionals to help it.
“If there are no professionals, contact Ptl. Whitney,” the post states.
