School Bus, Jeep Cherokee Collide In Bayville

School bus driver taken to Community Medical Center for treatment of neck pain.

Berkeley police are looking for witnesses to a crash between a school bus and a Jeep Cherokee on Veeder Lane near the H&M Potter School yesterday afternoon, Police Chief Karen T. DiMichele said.

The bus driver was taken to Community Medical Center in Toms River after complaining of neck pain. All of the students were checked out by members of the Bayville First Aid Squad, the chief said.

Preliminary investigation shows that the collision occurred as the bus, which had students aboard, was pulling out of the school parking lot of H&M Potter School and the Jeep Cherokee was traveling east on Veeder Lane, DiMichele said.

School officials notified the parents of the students and provided alternate transportation for them, she said/

The crash is still under investigation by Patrolman Ed Hendrickson of the police department's Traffic Safety Bureau. Anyone with information related to this crash is asked to call 732-341-1132 x 12
