OCEAN GATE, NJ — Christmas in Ocean Gate was nearly ruined on Dec. 12 when a strange individual was caught stealing gifts from the borough's Christmas tree at the Municipal Building.

"Ptl. Galione and Ptl. Stichter arrived to find the exterior door unlocked and located an individual, approximately 6 feet tall, green complexion wearing a red jacket and hat, stealing presents from underneath the borough tree," Ocean Gate police said in a release. Security and body camera footage captured the incident (watch here).

Thanks to the quick work of police, the subject, identified as "the Grinch," was quickly arrested and sentenced to community service.
