Stay Off Jeffrey's Creek Ice, Police Warn
Frozen lakes and streams are never 100 percent safe, according to the National Weather Service.
OCEAN GATE, NJ — Police are warning residents: don't walk on the ice at Jeffrey's Creek and the bay.
Ocean Gate police issued an ice advisory Wednesday, telling people to stay off ice and be safe.
"The ice is not thick enough to support a person’s weight and attempting to walk on it can be extremely dangerous," police said.

It's never 100 percent safe to walk on frozen lakes and streams, according to the National Weather Service.
Ice needs to be at least 4 inches thick to be safe for walking, the National Weather Service said.

"Your safety is our priority," police said. "Please avoid the ice and encourage others to do the same."
