Summer's Not Ready: Miserable New Jersey Weekend Weather Forecast

Summer's just not ready for us.

Even with Friday's sunshine, the weekend could be cold, rainy, windy and downright miserable as New Jersey will have to wait longer for the splendor of summer.

Indeed, forecasters have predicted "soaking rains" that could produce as much as 2.5 inches of precipitation - so you may not be able to get those baseball or soccer games in, either.

Drenching rain will sweep across much of the eastern United States as the week draws to a close and the weekend begins, according to AccuWeather.

The rain will spread across the Southeastern states and then head into the New Jersey area spanning Friday and Saturday.

Enough rain can fall on portions of the Southern and mid-Atlantic states, including the southern and central Appalachians, to raise the potential for flash and urban flooding. Travel delays are likely to result, according to AccuWeather.

Heavy rainfall on paved areas can overwhelm some storm drains and lead to flooding. Enough rain will fall to cause water to collect in poor drainage areas along some streets, intersections and underpasses with this storm, according to AccuWeather.

A brief period of above-normal tides and minor coastal flooding can occur at times of high tide centered from Saturday into Saturday night along the coast, accoding to AccuWeather.

Friday: Sunny, with a high near 73. North wind 5 to 7 mph becoming calm in the afternoon.

Friday night: Increasing clouds, with a low around 51. South wind 3 to 7 mph.

Saturday: Rain. High near 62. East wind 7 to 11 mph. Chance of precipitation is 80 percent. New precipitation amounts between a quarter and half of an inch possible.

Saturday night: Rain, mainly before midnight. Low around 49. North wind 8 to 11 mph. Chance of precipitation is 80 percent. New precipitation amounts between a quarter and half of an inch possible.

Sunday: A chance of showers, mainly after 2 p.m. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 67. North wind around 7 mph. Chance of precipitation is 30 percent. New precipitation amounts of less than a tenth of an inch possible.

Sunday night: A chance of showers, mainly before 8 p.m. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 51. Chance of precipitation is 30 percent. New precipitation amounts of less than a tenth of an inch possible.

Monday: A chance of showers. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 68. Chance of precipitation is 30 percent.
