SUV Sinks Into Island Beach State Park Beach (Video)

A man attempted to take photos of his SUV at a Jersey Shore beach on Tuesday. Instead, he had to bail out the vehicle as it sunk.

No summons was issued for a man who attempted to take photos of his SUV at Island Beach State Park on Tuesday. He had to bail out the vehicle as it sunk into the ocean.

State Park Police said they responded to a call Tuesday about a vehicle stuck at Island Beach State Park. A tow company arrived around the same time to find the man at the surf line with his SUV.

The vehicle was located in the water at the surf line. The tow company removed the vehicle from the beach with ease as it was low tide, according to the state Department of Environmental Protection.

The driver, who was not identified, had a mobile sport vehicle pass for the park and was not issued a summons. He was merely attempting to get pictures of his vehicle by the ocean, according to the DEP.

"Just a lapse in judgment," said Bob Considine, a spokesman for the department. "We encourage all 4-wheel drive vehicles permitted to ride at the park to stay away from the surf line."
