Bank Says Plans Will Ease Congestion at Busy Berkeley Spot

Wachovia's redesign of an ATM machine at Route 9 and Frederick Drive is expected to ease congestion in the bank's busy traffic lanes.

The bank's representatives recently told the Berkeley Township Planning Board they hoped to improve traffic flow by shifting teller boxes and relocating the ATM, according to planning records.

The bank hoped to ease congestion by moving the ATM from the outside lane to rear of first drive-through.

  • Replacing a curved island with pavement, which will be adjacent to handicapped spaces.
  • Adding a vestibule for the ATM in front.


No additional parking was proposed.

Berkeley Township officials told Wachovia that pylons should be relocated along exit line.

Wachovia's representatives, including attorney Keith Davis, told the Planning Board that the bank is ready to work with the township to meet its needs.
