Pedestrian Hit On Parkway Ramp In South Toms River, Report Says

The accident forced the closure of the ramp for at least 45 minutes, according to witnesses and 511nj.org.

UPDATE, 8 a.m.: The Garden State Parkway entrance ramp at Route 9 in South Toms River has been reopened, after a pedestrian was hit on the ramp sometime after 6 a.m., according to the traffic site 511nj.org.

PREVIOUSLY: A pedestrian has been hit by a vehicle at the ramp to the northbound Garden State Parkway in South Toms River, forcing New Jersey State Police to close the ramp and divert traffic in the area, according to 511nj.org.

The closure has resulted in heavy traffic through the area as people attempt to navigate backroads between there and Water Street in Toms River, witnesses said.

Scanner News NJ, a Facebook page that reports emergency radio transmissions, is reporting the pedestrian who was hit was airlifted with serious injuries.
