Virginia Baker Mazzolla Of Bayville Dies At 90
Memorial gathering slated for Tuesday in Toms River for former admitting director at Community Medical Center

Virginia Baker Mazzolla, 90, of Bayville, passed away at home on Thursday, August 13, 2015.
Virginia worked for Community Memorial Hospital from 1961 until her retirement in August of 1987. She began working the first day the new 50-bed hospital opened in 1961 as the admitting clerk, also doing billing and filing and working on the telephone switchboard.

She retired as Director of Admitting in 1987. Throughout her carrier she was an active member of the National Association of Hospital Admitting Managers (NAHAM) and was one of the first 130 Admitting Managers to become accredited by the Association in 1979. Her volunteer activities spanned her lifetime from the Island Heights PTA to President of the Island Heights Volunteer Fire Company Auxiliary.
Upon her retirement she began volunteering for the Lighthouse Network where she used her knitting skills for the benefit of others until unable due to the complications of Parkinsons Disease. An avid and accomplished knitter, her family and friends were the beneficiaries of her beautiful work and patient knitting lessons. Always a traveler, she explored the world following her retirement and was active in the Berkeley Shores Community Association. Born in Rossford, Ohio, she lived in Metuchen before moving to Ocean County in 1953. She was predeceased by her first husband Clinton John Baker in 1971, and her second husband Edward William Mazzolla in 1992.
She is survived by her children, Ann Baker McNell of Phoenix, MD, Clinton (Bud) Baker and his wife Nancy of Island Heights, Sondra Mazzolla Hamilton of Naples, FL, Judy Mazzolla Moses of Rockville, MD; and 6 cherished grandchildren; five great grandchildren; four nieces and nephews.
A memorial gathering will be held on Tuesday at Kedz Funeral Home, 1123 Hooper Ave., Toms River at 11 a.m. until the time of the service at 1 p.m. Burial will follow at the Ocean County Memorial Park Cemetery.
