Where To See Beautiful Fall Foliage Near Berkeley

BERKELEY, NJ — The weather is cooler, the air is crisper and leaves are starting to change into those gorgeous hues we expect every fall. Autumn has reached Ocean County, and nature is starting to reflect that.

The NJ Forest Service is sharing fall foliage map updates each Friday. And while the leaves down here are just beginning to change, here's some great places to check out the beautiful leaves around Berkeley.

Double Trouble State Park

This is a great park for hikers, with miles of trails. It also offers a look into Pine Barrens history as a former cranberry bog. The rusty-colored Cedar Creek is particularly beautiful this time of year. 581 Pinewald-Keswick Rd., Bayville

Mill Creek County Park

Playgrounds and picnic tables make this a great family spot. Nestled between Pine Beach and Ocean Gate, this park has trails and a great view of the Toms River and Mill Creek. 111 Chelsea Ave., Bayville

Dudley Park

This hidden gem of Bayville is a must-see in fall. It's filled with lots of trees and a small sandy beach at Cedar Creek perfect for dog-walking in the off-season. There's also access to the Barnegat Branch Trail, which provides even more great views. Route 9 at Sycamore St., Bayville

Jakes Branch County Park

Take in breathtaking views at the observation deck of the "Gateway to the Pines." More than eight miles of trails provide some of the best scenery the Pine Barrens has to offer. Then, learn all about it at the Nature Center. 111 Double Trouble Rd., Beachwood

Eno's Pond County Park

Another great spot for history lovers, this park dates back to colonial times. The pond actually served as a source of ice for a hotel once at the site. Now, visitors can watch the pond from an observation deck. 330 E. Lacey Rd., Lacey

Wells Mills County Park

This is the largest park in the Ocean County park system, with more than 900 acres of beauty. It has plenty of trails varying in difficulty for all hikers. It's quiet and peaceful, and makes for a great place to relax. 905 Wells Mills Rd., Waretown

Cattus Island County Park

This is a true gem of Ocean County, with more than 500 acres. What makes this park great is its massive boardwalk that's wheelchair accessible so anyone can enjoy the views. The beautiful Barnegat Bay is visible from here. You can head to the Cooper Environmental Center and check out ospreys and do some birdwatching, too. 1170 Cattus Island Blvd., Toms River
