Woman Who Tried To Save Dog Had 'Significant' Injuries

Shannon Seaman had to be airlifted to Jersey Shore University Medical Center, owner of dog found.

The Good Samaritan who tried to help a dog from being hit on Beach Boulevard recently suffered "significant" injuries when she was struck by a car, Police Chief David A. Paprota said.

Samantha Seaman, 29, Beach Boulevard, was a passenger in a vehicle traveling west on March 11 when she saw a dog get hit by a car. The dog, which belongs to Lacey resident Tim Downing, became disoriented and began to run back and forth on the street, the chief said.

Seaman got out of the car and tried to stop traffic so no other vehicles could hit the dog. She was struck by a silver Ford Explorer and was thrown by the impact. She was taken to Jersey Shore University Medical Center by helicoper, where she was listed in serious but stable condition, Paprota said.
