1 Car Burglarized, 1 Car Stolen And Used In NJ Robberies: Police

A car was broken into and a laptop was stolen while another car was stolen in Bedminster and used in possible 3 robberies in Newark: blotter

BEDMINSTER, NJ — One car was broken into and another car was stolen and used in possibly three robberies in Newark, Bedminster Police reported.

On Sept. 5 at 2:17 p.m.: Bedminster Police responded to Pottersville Road for a report of a vehicle that was burglarized. Upon arrival the officer spoke with the owner who advised she parked her vehicle unlocked in the driveway at approximately 1:30 p.m. on the previous day. At approximately 02 to 2:30 a.m. the owner’s dog was barking uncontrollably, but she did not think it was anything. At 2 p.m. upon arrival at her vehicle she observed the middle consul and glove box was open. Her Iphone charger, approximately $7 in change and a Lenova Thinkpad T440 Core processor, case and charger were taken.

On Sept. 5 at approximately 2:39 p.m.: A Basking Ridge resident responded to headquarters to report his motor vehicle stolen. He stated that on Sept. 4 he was attending a party on Deerhaven Road and at around 12:30 a.m. he had a car service pick him up, leaving his vehicle parked overnight on the road. Upon arriving the following day at approximately 10:30 a.m. to retrieve his vehicle he realized it was stolen. The vehicle was entered into NCIC. At 1:35 a.m. Newark Police Auto Squad advised they recovered the stolen vehicle. Newark Police advised the vehicle had been used in two confirmed robberies and was suspected of being involved in a third robbery.

On Sept. 7 at approximately 6:44 p.m.: Bedminster Police responded to the Bedminster Shell Station (1525 Rte 206) for a report of a suspicious male driving a black Acura with a temporary registration. Subsequent to the investigation, the driver, Cory Taylor, age 31 of Pasadena, Maryland was arrested on a traffic warrant out of East Orange for $106. Taylor posted bail and was released. Taylor was also issued motor vehicle summonses for unregistered vehicle and touring priveledges.

On Sept. 8 at approximately 11:14 a.m.: Bedminster Police responded to Quick Chek (1568 Rte 206) for a report of a fight in the parking lot. Upon arrival, the officer spoke with the reporting party who stated four to five males were fighting on the right side of the parking lot. The officers spoke with Scott and Richard Abbondanzo of Califon who advised their landscaping truck and trailer were blocking a box delivery truck. They moved the truck so the box truck could get through. The driver of the box truck, Jose Garcia of Elizabeth was yelling at them. Scott and Richard went into the store and shortly after, Jose and his brother, Samuel, ran in and starting yelling. All parties went outside and exchanged words and Jose and Samuel started swinging at Scott and Richard, which only lasted a few minutes before they were separated. Jose advised the officer that Scott called him a derogatory word and was waving a knife stating he would kill him. The officer spoke with the employee and witness who concurred with Scott’s story. The employee and witness did not see any knife, nor were any knives found at the scene. No injuries were observed and neither parties wanted to sign complaints.

On Sept. 9 at 12:04 a.m.: Bedminster Police responded to Ski Hill drive for a report of a suspicious person. Upon arrival the contractor advised he was doing work at the house and was outside smoking a cigarette when he heard a noise to his right. He then saw a white male with an all black hoodie step from around the side of the house. Both men paused and the complainant ran inside the residence and the unknown male ran in an unknown direction. The officers conducted checks of the surrounding area; they were unable to locate the male.

On Sept. 11 at 1:24 p.m.: Bedminster Police responded to Lamington Road for a report of juveniles on the side of the roadway throwing rocks at passing vehicles. The one juvenile was described to be wearing a white shirt and were east of Trump Golf Course. Upon locating the juveniles they stated they were attending a family party on Larger Cross Road and were waving guests down so they would know where to turn. They admitted to throwing rocks, but not as passing vehicles. The mother and aunt responded and were advised of the complaint. The officer spoke with the complainant who advised the children did not hit his vehicle and was only concerned because he saw them throw rocks into the road after he passed.
