2 Arrested For DUI On Christmas Day In Bedminster

A total of 3 people were arrested for driving under the influence recently in Bedminster, including 2 on Christmas day, police reported.

BEDMINSTER, NJ — A total of three people were arrested for driving under the influence recently in Bedminster, including two on Christmas day, police reported.

On Dec. 25 at about 12:51 a.m.: Bedminster Police were parked at the intersection of Route 202/206 and River Road when a passerby approached and reported that a beige Chrysler SUV was swerving in and out of its lane of travel for a few miles as it was traveling on Route 206 southbound and then onto Route 202/206 southbound. The officer caught up to the vehicle and observed it fail to maintain its lane several times. A motor vehicle stop was conducted on I-287 southbound in the area of mile marker 22. Subsequent to the investigation, Charles Kaczka, 60, of South Plainfield was arrested for operating under the influence of liquor and issued motor vehicle summonses for maintenance of lamps, failure to give proper signal – turning or stopping, traffic on marked lines and careless driving: likely to endanger person or property.

On Dec. 25 at 10:14 p.m.: Bedminster Police arrived on Long Meadow Road for an unrelated incident and observed a black Nissan Altima running with its lights on and noticed the inspection sticker was expired and that it had a broken passenger side tail light. The officer located the owner of the vehicle inside a residence and observed that she was intoxicated and advised her that she should not drive, to which she complied. At about 11:26 p.m., Bedminster Police initiated a motor vehicle stop on the vehicle in question at the intersection of Long Meadow Road and Cardinal Lane. Subsequent to the investigation, Brittany Fusca, 24, of Long Meadow Road was arrested for operating under the influence of liquor and issued motor vehicle summons for driving while suspended, maintenance of lamps, failure to surrender license after suspension, failure to have inspection and careless driving.

On Dec. 28 at 1:39 a.m.: While investigating another incident, Bedminster Police witnessed a silver Acura TL traveling at a high rate of speed and quickly closing the gap with the vehicle in front of it on Route 206 southbound, north of the Chester Township border. As the vehicle passed the officer, who was traveling northbound, the Acura passed the vehicle in front of it on the right shoulder of Route 206 between Daly Road and Spring Lake Drive. The officer attempted to catch up to the vehicle, but could not close the gap. The officer came upon the vehicle which had left the roadway near Ski Hill Drive and crashed into trees. Subsequent to the investigation, David Odom, 31, of Somerset was arrested for driving under the influence of alcohol and issued motor vehicle summonses for careless driving, reckless driving, failure to maintain lane, failure to wear seat belt and DUI on or within 1,000 feet of school property. Odum was evacuated and transported to the hospital.
