5 Bridgewater Students Among 2017 National Merit Scholarship Semifinalists
The nationwide pool of semifinalists, represents less than one percent of U.S. high school seniors.

BRIDGEWATER, NJ — Five Bridgewater students from Bridgewater-Raritan Regional High School have been named as Semifinalists in the 2017 National Merit Scholarship Program.
All semifinalists are eligible to compete for 7,500 National Merit Scholarship awards worth $33 million, to be awarded in spring 2017.

About 1.6 million juniors in more than 22,000 high schools entered the 2017 National Merit
Scholarship Program by taking the 2015 Preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying
Test (PSAT/NMSQT), which served as an initial screen of program entrants.
The nationwide pool of Semifinalists, representing less than one percent of U.S. high school seniors, includes the highest scoring entrants in each state. The number of Semifinalists in a state is proportional to the state’s
percentage of the national total of graduating seniors.

Three types of Merit Scholarship awards will be offered in 2017: National Merit $2,500 scholarships, corporate-sponsored scholarships, and college-sponsored scholarships. Merit Scholarship winners will be announced in spring 2017.
