BEDMINSTER, NJ - The Jacobus Vanderveer House Commission will host its 10th annual Field of Honor at River Road Park in Bedminster beginning Sunday, June 14 — Flag Day — through Tuesday, July 14.
More than 200 American flags, each measuring 3 by 5 feet, will be displayed in the north field of River Road Park. Residents can adopt a flag personalized with their own sentiment in honor of a veteran, active-duty service member or loved one.
Flag adoptions are $40 at the Bedminster Municipal Building, One Miller Lane, or $45 online at register.communitypass.net/Bedminster. Flags may be picked up July 15 beginning at 4 p.m., or sponsors may check a box on the order form to donate their flag back to the Jacobus Vanderveer House.
A community picnic will be held July 4 from noon to 3 p.m. at the Jacobus Vanderveer House at River Road Park, celebrating both the Field of Honor and America's 250th anniversary. The event will feature live music from John Luckenhill's 20-piece pops band, historic games and historical reenactors. Food and adult beverages will be available for purchase, with proceeds benefiting the Jacobus Vanderveer House and Museum.
