Bedminster Will Host Lecture Celebrating Henry Knox's Birthday, America 250

BEDMINSTER, NJ — The Jacobus Vanderveer House & Museum Commission and the Historical Society of the Somerset Hills will present a special historical lecture featuring archaeologist Dr. John Seidel and historian W. Barry Thomson this weekend.

The lecture will be held on Saturday, July 25, at 1 p.m. at Bedminster Town Hall.

The program will commemorate General Henry Knox's birthday and America's 250th anniversary, with the speakers examining the history of the Pluckemin Artillery Cantonment and the Continental Army's presence in Somerset County during the Revolutionary War.

Following the lecture, attendees are invited to the Jacobus Vanderveer House for a guided house tour, reception, and a behind-the-scenes look at the Pluckemin Cantonment archaeological site with Dr. Seidel. The event will also feature a special appearance by a Henry Knox reenactor and a cannon dedication.

Admission is $25 per person, and advance registration is required. The Jacobus Vanderveer House is located in River Road Park, 3055 River Road, Bedminster.
