Au Pair Education Programs at Rutgers University: Two Weekend Offerings in New Brunswick
Au pairs in New Jersey and surrounding area can now earn the educational credits required under the J-1 visa program at Rutgers University!

The Rutgers Office of Continuing Professional Education has teamed up with Rutgers Cooperative Extension (RCE) to present two NEW culturally-focused learning programs for au pairs to be held during the summer of 2016. The timely topics and sessions will be taught by RCE specialists in community outreach, child/youth development, food, nutrition and health.
July 30-31, 2016, 8:30am-4:00pm | American Food - Then and Now
An overview of the history of American food. Students will learn about how technological and societal factors have changed what and how Americans eat. This interactive program will include:

- a visit to a research farm, where novel plant and animal breeding techniques are developed
- a tour of Rutgers' world renowned food science research facilities, where the staff works to develop of new, wholesome, nutritious, and innovative food products for world-wide markets
Lunch each day will incorporate the theme of the program and will include tastings.
This program will give attendees three of the six hours of academic credit required under the J-1 visa.

August 6-7, 2016, 8:30am-4:00pm | The Children in Your Care: Make Them the Best They Can Be
This session has been designed to provide attendees with useful, highly applicable information for working with children on nutrition, interpersonal skills and even fun! Topics will include:
- Cooking with Children: Nutrition and Fun
- Fitness for Children
- Keeping the Peace: Tips, Tools and Techniques
RCE staff and their 4H counterparts are experts in good things for children – let them share that knowledge with you!
