Bedminster Local Among 2 Arrested For DWI

2 Bridgewater locals were also arrested on charges including driving while intoxicated and shoplifting.

BRIDGEWATER, NJ — A Bedminster local was among two arrested for driving while intoxicated in Bridgewater, according to the police blotter.

On Aug. 4: James Cocuzza, 42, of Bedminster was arrested for DWI after he was stopped for a motor vehicle violation on US Highway 202/206. After being processed for the arrest, Cocuzza was issued the following motor vehicle summonses: driving while intoxicated (DWI), failure to maintain traffic lane, careless driving and failure to keep right. He released with a pending court appearance.

On Aug. 4 at approximately 2:05 a.m.: Phong Tran, 18, of Bridgewater was arrested for driving while intoxicated (DWI) and possession of a controlled dangerous substance (marijuana) after he was
stopped for a motor vehicle violation on Dow Road. After being processed for the arrest, Tran was issued the following motor vehicle summonses and criminal complaints: driving while intoxicated (DWI), careless driving, failure to maintain traffic lane, possession of CDS in a motor vehicle, possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia. He was released with a pending court appearance.

On Aug. 5: Jermel Stevenson, 29, of Plainfield was arrested for shoplifting merchandise valued at $181 from Macy’s at the Bridgewater Commons Mall. Stevenson was charged with shoplifting. He was processed for the arrest and released with a pending court appearance.

On Aug. 7: Javier Zapata, 19, of Far Hills was arrested for possession of a controlled dangerous substance (marijuana), after being stopped for a motor vehicle violation on US Highway 202 North. After being processed for the arrest, Zapata was issued the following motor vehicle summonses and criminal complaints: speeding, possession of CDS in a motor vehicle, and possession of marijuana. He was released with a pending court appearance.

On Aug. 8 at approximately 9 a.m.: A resident of Warren reported that her vehicle had been burglarized while parked at Washington Valley Park (766 Newmans Ln.). The burglary occurred between 8 and 9 a.m. Someone smashed a window of the victim’s vehicle and stole her purse which contained cash, credit cards and personal items.

On Aug. 8 at approximately 9 a.m.: A resident of Bridgewater reported that her vehicle had been burglarized while parked at Washington Valley Park (766 Newmans Ln.). The burglary occurred
between 8 and 9 a.m. Someone smashed a window of the victim’s vehicle and stole her purse which contained cash, credit cards and personal items.

On Aug. 9: Ana Valdez-Mateo, 37, of Bridgewater and Laura Baena-Norena, 24, of Somerville were arrested for shoplifting merchandise valued at $915 from Macy’s at the Bridgewater Commons Mall. Both were charged shoplifting, processed for their arrest and were released with a pending court appearance.
