Bedminster Students Honored for Competition Success

Jacobs brothers dominate a geography bee, and James You advances in a spelling bee.

Three Bedminster Township School students were recognized by the school board on Thursday night for their achievements in academic competitions.

Brothers Thomas and Matthew Jacobs were honored for placing, respectively, first and second in the National Geographic Geography Bee.

Thomas Jacobs now advances to the New Jersey State Championship, Bedminster Township School Principal Corby Swan told the board.

To qualify, Thomas had to earn one of the top 100 scores on a statewide test, Swan said.

“I’m really in awe of you guys,” he told the brothers.

He will now compete in a regional spelling bee on Sunday, Swan said.

Swan also noted that You is a talented musician.

“He plays a mean piano,” Swan said.
