Lloyd Sems

Description:

We have lived in the town for about five years. I wanted to volunteer in a community where we would raise our two children. I got involved on the bipartisan Economic Development Advisory Committee which is where I first met Councilman John Donahue. I would later be appointed to the Board of Health. I am also an assistant coach and board member for Somerset Hills Lacrosse.

Why are you running?

The delays and inaction in getting good ideas moved forward is costing the borough. There needs to be more accountability and oversight as to where our tax payer dollars are going and the decisions on how our money is spent.

What experience do you have that would help you serving?

I’ve always been interested in analyzing problematic situations and determining the actions needed to rectify a situation. In my professional career this translated into investing in turn around situations and eventually launching an investment fund. I also enjoy working with private family owned businesses.

What issues would you like to see addressed if elected?

  • Property taxes
  • Real estate Values
  • Having more residents involved and aware of borough matters
  • Form new committees with residents that are passionate about topics such as train station, athletic programs, etc.
  • Flat to down budget
  • Issue summons for zoning violations
  • Revisit vendors who have long term contracts with the borough
  • Rebuild and unify the GOP in town by getting more young people involved
