Bernardsville Doctor Shares How Star Wars Shaped Her Career

BERNARDSVILLE, NJ — A story based in a galaxy far, far away has shaped Bernardsville native Robin Bocra’s entire life and put her on the path to become a doctor.

Bocra, who is a doctor at Foot & Ankle Center of New Jersey with locations in Bridgewater and Hillsborough, talked about her Star Wars inspiration during an interview with StarWars.com.

She was interviewed surrounded by her many, many Star Wars memorabilia and even talked of her chinchilla who is missing a hand, fittingly named Luke.

“Star Wars was the most influential thing in my life,” Bocra said in the interview. “It has been the most pivotal thing that has influenced me from the getgo, from when I was little. It formulated who I became what I liked what I chose to do.”

Bocra majored in Biology and minored in Chemistry while attending New York University, and got her medical degree from Temple University School of Podiatric Medicine in Philadelphia

“It’s not like I watched these films and I said, ‘Oh I am going to be a doctor.’” Bocra said. “It’s a layered thing that has happened over time. It’s an evolution of its own that made me look at something that maybe I wouldn’t have looked at before.”
