Bernardsville Free Household Clean-Up Day Is Saturday. What To Know
Residents may drop off one pickup truck or van load of household items free of charge at the Compost Facility on Pill Hill Road.
BERNARDSVILLE, NJ - Bernardsville is holding its free spring Household Clean-Up Day on Saturday, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Borough Compost Facility, 150 Pill Hill Road.
The event is open to residents of private homes, multi-family dwellings, apartment units, and churches. Each household may drop off one pickup truck or van load of material at no charge. Proof of residency is required.
Accepted items include furniture, heating boilers, hot water heaters, stoves, washing machines, clothes dryers, air conditioners, refrigerators, freezers, dishwashers, lawnmowers, weed whackers, carpets, bedding, mattresses, and similar household appliances. Refrigerant does not need to be removed from appliances before drop-off; the borough will have it evacuated and recycled by a certified technician.

Fuel and oil must be removed from lawnmowers and other gas- or diesel-powered equipment prior to disposal.
Items not accepted include tires, automobiles and auto parts, building and construction materials, asphalt, rocks, bricks, earth, grass and yard waste, railroad ties, industrial refuse, hazardous materials, tree stumps, logs, broken concrete, chemicals, motor oil, propane containers, paint containers, recyclables, and electronics such as televisions, stereos, computers, and printers.

A second clean-up day is scheduled for Saturday, Oct. 3, also from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.
