Bernardsville Library's Summer Reading Club Continues Through August
Bernardsville Public Library's Summer Reading program, Every Hero Has a Story, is still going strong. Check out up-coming events.

Although the summer is drawing to a close, Bernardsville Public Library’s Summer Reading program, Every Hero Has a Story, is still going strong. To celebrate all the readers who participated in the program, the Friends of the Bernardsville Library are hosting an ice cream social, featuring ice cream donated by Friendly’s of Bernardsville, on Thursday, August 20 from 6:30 to 7:30 pm on the library patio.
Don’t miss the last blast of cool fun at the Library. Paint with bubble wrap, decorate a t-shirt, make buttons, have a picnic, play with a parachute and more. Due to popular demand, the library has expanded the Traveling Tales series to include stories at Studio 7 Fine Art Gallery on Tuesday, August 18 at 1:30 pm and at Burger King on Thursdays, August 20, 27, and September 3 at 10:00 am.
As of July 31, 384 readers had registered for the summer reading program and received 493 prizes for reading more than 108,000 minutes! And there’s still plenty of time to earn more prizes. Children and teens are encouraged to continue logging the minutes they read through Friday, September 4.

Throughout the summer, the Youth Services Department has run story times, craft programs and book groups for young children to teens in twelfth grade—programs which highlighted this summer’s theme about heroes. From underdog golf heroes, to furry, four-legged sled dog heroes, from super hero costumes to super hero cartooning, the summer was filled with story times, music and games for all ages. Middle and high schoolers helped library staff and earned community service by assisting at programs and preparing activities and crafts for younger children.
Attendance at the ice cream social is free, but advance registration is required at http://www.bernardsvillelibrary.org/registration-youth/ or call the library at 908-766-0118 to sign up. Registration for this event begins on August 10.
