CSCCNJ hosts healthy cooking and nutrition classes as part of their program, a concept that pairs well with the cooking mentality of Ryland Inn head chef, Anthony Bucco, “Wholesome cooking is not a marketing ploy at the Ryland Inn. Sourcing from local family farms, using animal products that aren’t administered hormones or antibiotics, and working with sustainable fisheries are a small part of our contribution to respecting both the health of our guests and planet. Using cooking techniques that focus on the ingredients and the minimal handling of them is really our culinary focus,” said Bucco.
“I’m enjoying the opportunity to assist Cancer Support Community with this unique culinary event. Partnering with local celebrity chefs and their staffs will prove to be a lot of fun and I’m honored that our collective modest offering of hospitality will showcase our commitment to the communities we serve!”
Additionally, the Groundbreaker Award will be presented to Matt McPherson, owner of Matt’s Red Rooster in Flemington and Ellen Nardoni, Trustee of the Paul Nardoni Foundation. McPherson and Nardoni, both involved in the work of CSCCNJ since its inception 10 years ago, are being honored for their work in establishing the healthy cooking program and the legacy that they have created. Since the program began, it has changed the lives of nearly 1,200 people affected by cancer in Central NJ who have attended these programs.
“Ellen and Matt were both instrumental in creating one of our most popular programs at CSCCNJ,” said Executive Director, Amy Sutton. “Individuals like Matt and Ellen have helped CSCCNJ grow from a grass roots organization 10 years ago to serving 1,300 people affected by cancer every year in our area. We are so pleased to be able to honor them with this award.”
Proceeds from the evening will benefit Cancer Support Community Central New Jersey, a non-profit organization offering professionally-led support groups, educational programs, nutrition and healthy cooking workshops, and healthy life-style programs at no cost to all individuals affected by cancer.
