Claremont Field Playground Will Reopen Later This Summer, Officials Say

The playground was closed in May after being deemed a safety hazard.

BERNARDSVILLE, NJ — The Borough of Bernardsville have said a new playground will be installed at Claremont Field later this summer.

The playground is expected to be installed before Labor Day, borough officials said.

Bernardsville previously asked residents for their feedback which would contribute to the playground's final design.

The playground was closed in May after being deemed a safety hazard.

"The playground at Claremont Field has been deemed a safety hazard and will be shut down moving forward," the borough's recreation department said in May.

Several suggestions from residents have been been incorporated into the final playground design, according to officials.

Additions to playground:

  • Swings
  • Three large shade umbrellas
  • Benches
  • Play equipment designed for preschool-aged children
