A Conservative Woman's Perspective on the Women's March on Washington, DC
I am not represented by the leadership of the Women's March on Washington, DC.

As a woman, I am appalled and ashamed by yesterday’s drama at the Women’s March on Washington, DC, whose leadership claims the event was about unity and equal rights for all women. Ironically, those of us who are pro-America, pro-life, and pro-traditional family values were excluded from the festivities.
It quickly became apparent that these “nasty” (Ashly Judd’s own words) and vulgar (Madonna) celebrities were more interested in having their own loud voices heard, than advocating for vulnerable women world–wide who are truly being denied their human and civil rights, and desperate for a voice. These celebrities do NOT represent me and my interests, and should be ashamed of a missed opportunity to use their positions of influence to accomplish something noble and good.

This march is a typical example of what President Trump characterized as an “establishment” that is “all talk and no action”. The injustices against women to which the organizers of this march purport to be opposed are not new. Why the uprising now? Rather than devoting their time and money to ending this inequality and persecution, these celebrities chose to play politics. It’s obvious these protests are nothing more than manufactured outrage over Trump’s victory. If you have any doubt with regard to their motivation, just consider the timing.
It’s unfortunate to note that there are many well-intentioned women among these protesters who are passionate about their concern for women’s issues, but whose agenda has been overshadowed by the drama and hype. I’m hopeful these women will find an alternate platform to promote their cause.

The ability to speak freely and express opposing views without fear of reprisal is the one of the hallmarks of this country’s exceptionalism. As a Conservative, single, working Mom, I’ve been reluctant to come forward. Being fearful to exercise my right to free speech is what’s really deplorable. My son, and this country, deserve better. I will no longer be intimidated.
As President Trump said in his inaugural address, this travesty “ends now”.
