Diamond Dream Hosts Sandal Making Workshop in Bernardsville

Fashion

Diamond Dream Fine Jewelry and Apparel transformed its chic clothing boutique into a shoemaker’s studio recently for a workshop that allowed participants to design and create their own summer sandals. The event
was part of an ongoing lifestyle education series offered by the fine jeweler and upscale apparel store located in downtown Bernardsville.

With guidance from master shoemakers from Williamsburg-based Brooklyn Shoe Space, budding artisans created beautiful, hand-made leather sandals and espadrilles. They received personalized instruction to help them create the sandals of their dreams. Materials were provided and participants were able to select all the styling and embellishments for their footwear, from the color of the leather or textile and threading to decorative studs and monogramming.

“We all need a creative outlet,” said Diamond Dream owner Faina Shapiro, ”We know our customers love and appreciate fashion so this seemed like a perfect workshop for people to have fun and express
their individuality.” As they were hammering, cutting, pattern making and sewing, participants enjoyed refreshments and each other’s company. All unleashed their inner fashionistas and walked away with true and practical pieces of bespoke fashion.

Diamond Dream’s fall line-up of workshops and educational presentations will range from a rare gemstone night featuring guest speaker Art Boginsky to a leather-making workshop with Underhill Leatherworks for
creating unique, embossed gifts for themselves and others. Diamond will also host an Italian Carnival night celebrating their Italian jewelry and apparel brands with new arrivals, hors d’oeuvres and entertainment.
