Donald Trump's 17-Day New Jersey Vacation Starts Now

President Donald Trump will be taking his vacation in New Jersey — something that used to bug him when President Obama did it.

President Donald Trump liked to rip former President Barack Obama for going on vacation. Now he's going to take one himself — at a golf club in New Jersey — for the next three weeks.

Trump will spend the next 17 days at his Trump National Golf Club in Bedminster. He had no choice but to leave, The New York Daily News reported, since the West Wing's 27-year-old heating system will be replaced.

The Associated Press reported that workers will also repair the south portico, do interior painting and fix a leaky roof in the press office.

However, the White House wouldn't answer questions about the president's schedule for August, the Chicago Tribune reports.

Asked whether Trump had a vacation planned in August, White House spokeswoman Sarah Huckabee Sanders told reporters she'd "continue to keep you guys updated on his August schedule as those details are finalized," the Tribune said.

Trump is set to return on Aug. 21.

Trump has made the Bedminister Club his summer White House, often going there on weekends and playing lots of golf. Authorities have had to clear the airspace around Bedminster during his stays there, a situation that hasn't really pleased many locals who like to pilot planes.

He had earlier promised to stick around until some of his initiatives were completed, such as health care reform. But Republicans in Congress failed after making several attempts to come up with a plan to repeal and replace Obamacare.

Trump also had been critical of President Obama for the amount of time he spent playing golf and taking vacations.

Since taking office on Jan. 20, 2017, however, Trump has been on the grounds of his golf courses at least 43 times. He's on pace to visit his golf clubs more than 650 times in an eight-year presidency, according to GolfNews.net.
