Drunk Driver With Kids In Car Arrested In Bedminster: Police

A Bedminster Golf Club also reported damage by an ATV and theft in a separate incident, according to the police blotter.

BEDMINSTER, NJ — A man from Bronx, New York was arrested driving while intoxicated and two counts of endangering the welfare of a child following a traffic stop in Bedmisnter, police report.

On Aug. 29 at 10:48 p.m., Bedminster Police pulled over the grey Jeep Grand Cherokee on Route 78 eastbound at mile marker 31 after observing the vehicle fail to maintain its lane, police reported.

Subsequent to the investigation, David Gaskins, 29, of Bronx, New York was arrested for 39:4-50 (driving while intoxicated) and two counts of 2C:24-4A(2) (endangering the welfare of a child). Gaskins was also issued motor vehicle summonses for 39:4-88 (failure to maintain lane), 39:4-97 (careless driving), 39:3-66 (maintenance of lamps), and 39:3-10 (unlicensed driver). Gaskins was lodged in Somerset County Jail, police reported.

On Aug. 21 at 6:32 a.m.: Police responded to Hamilton Farm Golf Club, 1040 Pottersville Road, for reported criminal mischief and theft to their property sometime overnight. The officer spoke with the head grounds master who said that around 6 a.m. his grounds crews reported minor damage as well as a theft that had taken place over night. The officer observed grass torn up on the 10th and 16th greens, from a quad. Also, four tee blocks and one flag stick were taken. The damage and theft total is approximately $350, police report.

On Aug. 22 at approximately 6:06 p.m.: While observing traffic on Route 202/206 southbound at River Road, Bedminster Police observed a white Chevy Malibu drive past with a cracked rear passenger tail light and tinted windows. A motor vehicle stop was conducted at Route 202/206 southbound at Hills Drive. Subsequent to the investigation, Ahmad Roper, 22, of Newark was arrested for a motor vehicle warrant out of Newark Police Department for $100. Roper posted bail and was released.

On Aug. 25 at approximately 10:06 p.m.: While traveling on Route 287 southbound just prior to exit 22, Bedminster Police conducted a random plate check of a black Jeep Liberty resulted in a hit on a traffic warrant for the registered owner. A motor vehicle stop was conducted on Route 287 southbound at mile marker 22. Subsequent to the investigation, Haja Turay-George, 33, of North Brunswick was arrested for two active traffic warrants out of North Brunswick Police Department totaling $1,000. Turay-George posted $500 for the one warrant and was released on her own recognizance for the other warrant.

On Aug. 26 at 7:09 a.m.: Bedminster Police responded to Ashley Court for a report of an abandoned blue Dodge Grand Caravan which was blocking a garage. Upon arrival the officer made contact with the caller who advised he found the vehicle blocking his garage this morning. The officer observed the front right tire was blown out and partially shredded. There was also a broken tire jack underneath the tire and multiple empty beer cans on the front passenger side floor and on the middle row floor. The officer spoke with another neighbor who advised at approximately 2 a.m. she was woken by the sound of two men speaking loudly in Spanish. She advised two middle-aged men were attempting to change the tire on the caravan and appeared to be intoxicated. The vehicle was towed. Sergio Navarro-Hernandez, 29, of Somerville was issued motor vehicle summonses for 39:3-10b (unlicensed driver), 39:3-40 (driving while suspended), 39:4-97 (careless driving), 39:4-51b (open container of an alcoholic beverage in a motor vehicle) and 39:4-56.6 (abandoned motor vehicle on private property).

On Aug. 28 at 9:34 a.m.: Bedminster Police responded to 327 Route 202-206 for a theft complaint. Upon arrival the officer spoke with an employee of SFC All Phase Construction who stated that on Aug. 23 she noticed some building materials from the job site missing. Approximately 28 pieces of lumber were taken
valuing $1,200.

On Aug. 28 at 9 p.m.: While sitting stationary at the intersection of Route 202/206 and River Road, Bedminster police observed a black Nissan Altima traveling north bound make an illegal U-turn at the intersection of Route 202/206 and River Road. A motor vehicle stop was conducted on Route 202/206 south bound by the Route 287 ramp. Subsequent to the investigation, Jason Kennan, 38 of South Windsor, CT was arrested for 39:4-50 (driving while intoxicated) and issued motor vehicle summonses for 39:4-125 (improper U-turn), 39:4-97 (careless driving), 39:4-88B (unsafe lane change), and 39:4-51B (possession of open container of alcohol in a motor vehicle).

On Aug. 29 at approximately 1:29 a.m.: While observing traffic on Route 206 at Quick Chek, Bedminster police observed a Red Mitsubishi Eclipse drive past with an inoperable front passenger head light and no rear registration plate lights. A motor vehicle stop was conducted on Route 206 south bound in the area of Somerset Financial Drive. Subsequent to the investigation, Cheryl Lynn Ramberger, 45, of Hyde Park, New York was arrested for a traffic warrant out of South Amboy Police for $300 and issued motor vehicle summonses for 39:3-66 (maintenance of lamps) and 39:3-29 (failure to possess driver’s license).
