The Willow School Alumna Greta Schacht Hosts "Girl Rising" Screening
The Willow School is proud to support Greta Schacht, a Willow alumna and Vorhees High School senior, as she presents a screening of “Girl Rising” on May 24.
Girl Rising is a groundbreaking, innovative documentary film and a movement for girls’ education. Around the world, millions of girls face barriers to education that boys do not. “Girl Rising” tells the compelling stories of nine incredible girls whose lives have been affected by the absolute power of education--or lack thereof.
After Greta first saw the film, she knew she wanted to do more. “While it was disturbing to see the current state of girls in third world countries, it also left me inspired. I realized that this film has the power to inspire change.”

A chance encounter with Justin Reeves, Girl Rising’s Director of Partnerships, deepened Greta’s interest in hosting a screening. “When I met Justin Reeves, he said something that really stuck with me. He said that we, as humans, are constantly being moved and affected by things, whether it’s a photo, article, or film. If every time we were moved by something, we went the extra mile to do something about it, the world would really be a better place.”
“One small act can truly make a difference,” Greta continues. “The world isn’t as big as it seems. We are all connected by our humanity, and I hope that this film reminds people of that.”
Tickets can be purchased online or at the door. Your $10 ticket price goes to the Girl Rising organization, whose mission is to ensure that girls around the world are educated and empowered.
The event will take place in the Barn Studio at The Willow School. Doors at 6:30pm. Film begins at 7pm. Light refreshments will be served. Due to adult themes in the film, the screening will be for attendees ages 18 and up. The Willow School is located at 1150 Pottersville Rd in Gladstone, NJ.
