Peapack - Full Circle 2017: Art of Possibility will be an evening of firsts. While a number of Matheny’s Arts Access artists who are featured in the multimedia showcase have had their works presented in past productions, there are several who are making their debuts in new genres. An annual arts event, Full Circle will be held November 4, 2017 from 3:00pm – 6:00pm at the Robert Schonhorn Arts Center in Peapack. The celebration puts a spotlight on the talents of artists with disabilities.

“There is so much diverse, interesting work coming out of the dance, writing and drama programs this year,” says Arts Access Performing Arts Coordinator Heather Williams, who is also the director of the stage performance. “It was no easy feat to choose what gets presented, but I’m happy to have a few first-time contributors have their work shine onstage.”

Among the featured artists are Ellen Kane, Paul Santo, and Michael Cornely. Kane is a gifted visual artist whose paintings have been exhibited at Monmouth Museum, Paper Mill Playhouse, and Grounds for Sculpture. Also a writer and choreographer, Kane is excited to have her first fully-choreographed dance included in the show. “I always want to do beautiful paintings and dances,” she shares. “I want to do something different every time.”

Michael Cornely is flexing his choreography muscles as well. A versatile artist, he has had paintings and dramatic works included in previous Full Circle performances. But on November 4th, Cornely will show attendees a different side of his creativity, through what he feels is a deeply personal form of artistic expression. “Before I started choreographing,” he explains, “I basically kept everything bottled up inside. This is one of my very first choreographed pieces and it’s also my first completed piece. So that’s a big thing.”

Primarily a visual artist and songwriter, Paul Santo will have his first work as a playwright presented in the show. He has performed his country songs in solo showcases and has been a featured artist in multiple art exhibits. “I am happy for people to see the work I’ve done as a writer,” he says. “This is going to be great!”

Celebrating its 24th year, Arts Access gives people with disabilities the tools necessary to create fine art. Assisted by professional artist-facilitators, the artists create digital art, paintings, choreography, plays, poetry, and essays. With the use of specialized systems and methodologies, they have the opportunity to bring their artistic visions to life and present them to the public at Full Circle.

Highlights of the Full Circle 2017 production include a special message from television tar Micah Fowler, and onstage performances featuring Arts Access artists and dancers alongside actors from Premiere Stages at Kean University. In addition to the performance, patrons will view a multimedia gallery exhibit that includes sculptures, Munny dolls, digital art and acrylic paintings. Local vendors will also provide culinary tastings and beverages.

Tickets are $55 and are available at http://artsaccessprogram.org/event/full-circle-2017/ or by calling (908) 234-0011 ext. 260. All proceeds will benefit the Arts Access Program.
