Al Ribeiro and Jay Ambelang welcome Diane Greenfield's candidacy for Council.

Press release from Forward Bernardsville:

Sept. 10, 2021

On September 7, 2021, the Forward Bernardsville team kicked off their fall campaign for the Bernardsville Borough Council by releasing their full campaign platform. Their plan details a set of practical, solutions-oriented proposals in three main pillars – Moving Community Revitalization Forward, Moving Fiscal Discipline Forward, and Moving our Infrastructure Forward. This platform seeks to not only continue the work that began under Mayor Mary Jane Canose and our Republican elected officials, but to help enhance it by focusing on pragmatic solutions to the local issues our residents face. Jay Ambelang noted that “We believe Bernardsville’s best days are ahead of us. Our platform offers a positive vision of fiscally-sound ideas, and aims to bring residents together to find solutions to our Borough’s challenges and future needs.”

In addition, Al Ribeiro and Jay Ambelang congratulate Diane Greenfield on her nomination as the Republican candidate for Council to fill the unexpired term of a recently vacated seat, and look forward to her being a part of the Forward Bernardsville team. Diane, a mother of 2 adult sons and a 30-year resident of Bernardsville has a solid background in community service, including serving as a past member of Borough Council. Al Ribeiro added “We are fortunate to run alongside Diane for Council this fall. Diane has earned a reputation as a passionate community servant who brought a commonsense approach to issues during her term as Council. She is a pragmatic problem solver who will be a strong voice for fiscal-stability”.

Al Ribeiro and Jay Ambelang look forward to a healthy campaign focused on the issues most important to Bernardsville. In that spirit, they invite their opponents, Christina Balas and Jeff Hammond, to a debate this fall focused on the most pressing issues affecting our Borough such as local taxes and budget, downtown redevelopment, open space, infrastructure, and our Borough’s special character. John Donahue, campaign manager for the Forward Bernardsville team, said “It is important that residents can hear directly from our candidates on their perspective on the issues and their vision for the Borough.” John Donahue will reach out directly to the Democratic candidates’ campaign manager to begin to discuss details on organizing a debate.
