July 4 falls on a Saturday in 2026, giving Bedminster residents an extra-long holiday weekend to celebrate. From hometown traditions and community festivals to fireworks displays and family-friendly fun, there are plenty of ways to mark Independence Day close to home.

10th Annual Field of Honor Patriotic Flag Display

Visitors can experience Bedminster's 10th Annual Field of Honor®, a striking display of more than 200 American flags honoring service members, loved ones and the nation's 250th anniversary. The sea of flags will be on display at River Road Park now through July 14.

Lake Hopatcong Fireworks
When: Friday, June 26, 2026, 9 p.m.
Where: Lake Hopatcong Yacht Club | 75 North Betrand Road, Mt. Arlington
Admission: Free
Worth the drive at about 30 minutes away, the Lake Hopatcong Fireworks light up New Jersey's largest lake with a spectacular community-supported display. The annual tradition brings together residents and visitors for an unforgettable evening of fireworks reflected across the water.
Denville Days
When: Friday, July 3, 2026 – Sunday, July 5, 2026; event times vary by day
Where: Gardner Field | 1 St Marys Pl, Denville
Admission: Free
Denville Days returns about 30 minutes away with a three-day celebration packed with live music, family entertainment, food vendors and patriotic fun. Highlights include a car show, fire truck display, contests, kids' activities, an artisan market and a fireworks show at sunset on July 4.
Independence Day Fireworks
When: Friday, July 3, 2026, 9:30 p.m.
Where: North Branch Park | 355 Milltown Rd, Bridgewater
Admission: Free
A Fourth of July tradition returns to Bridgewater, about 10 minutes away, with the annual Independence Day Fireworks celebration at North Branch Park. Families can enjoy food trucks, Revolutionary War reenactors and picnic-style festivities before a free fireworks display lights up the sky at 9:30 p.m.
4th Of July Celebration
When: Saturday, July 4, 2026, 10 a.m.
Where: Middlebrook Encampment | Middlebrook Rd, Bridgewater
Admission: Free
Step back into Revolutionary War history in Bridgewater, about 15 minutes away, at the annual Fourth of July Celebration at the Middlebrook Encampment. The longstanding tradition features patriotic ceremonies, a flag-raising, and a reading of the Declaration of Independence at one of New Jersey's most significant Revolutionary War sites.
Community Picnic
When: Saturday, July 4, 2026, 12–3 p.m.
Where: River Road Park | 3055 River Rd, Bedminster
Admission: Free
Celebrate America's 250th anniversary at a family-friendly Community Picnic at the Jacobus Vanderveer House in Bedminster. Guests can enjoy live music from John Luckenhill's 20-piece pops band, historic games, reenactors, and food and beverages available for purchase while honoring the nation's history.
