Heritage Irish Dance Opens Classes in Bernardsville

Heritage Irish Dance Company opens weekly Irish dance classes for boys and girls aged 2 and a half and up in Bernardsville!

This month marks the inaugural registration period for the Heritage Irish Dance Company, the area’s newest school of Irish dance.  Taught by former teachers of the Peter Smith School, the school will hold classes for boys and girls ages 2 and a half to 18 in Bernardsville on Tuesdays afternoons at St. John on the Mountain Episcopal Church, 379 Mount Harmony Road.  The school’s staff has a collective 70 plus years of experience teaching children of all ages traditional Irish step dancing.

“Irish dance isn’t just for Americans of Irish descent,” says teacher Amy Siegel Loxley, “With obesity on the rise in America, Irish dancing is a great way for any child to be active and challenge his or her mind and body.  At the Heritage Irish Dance Company we aim to share our passion for Irish dance with all our students and along the way, we help our students develop self-confidence, stage presence, coordination, discipline and time management.”

All of the school’s instructors are licensed by An Coimisiun, the governing body of Irish dance worldwide, in Dublin, Ireland.  Two are dance competition judges.  Amy Loxley is a former World, All Ireland and North American Champion.  She also was a cast member in “Riverdance on Broadway,” and on the North American Tour.  Along with two other instructors, Amy has performed at Carnegie Hall, Radio City Music Hall and the New Jersey Performing Arts Center.
