Man Almost Caused Head-On Crash With Bedminster Cop: Blotter
The Maplewood man was driving the wrong way on Route 202/206 in Bedminster when he also hit an officer driving on the road, police report.

BEDMINSTER, NJ — A Maplewood man was charged with drug possession and almost causing a head-on collision with a Bedminster police officer.
On June 26 at around 11:41 p.m., Bedminster Police were traveling Route 202/206 northbound just south of Somerville Road. While negotiating the curve of the road where Route 202 and Route 206 split in the left lane, the officer observed headlights coming directly at him, police report.
Another vehicle was also traveling northbound in the right lane less than a car length ahead. The officer immediately applied the brakes, and then made an evasive maneuver to get into the right lane to avoid a head on collision with the oncoming vehicle, police report.

A motor vehicle stop was conducted of the brown Honda CRV. Subsequent to the investigation, Matthew Muench, 19, of Maplewood was arrested for possession of marijuana under 50 grams and possession of drug paraphernalia.
Muench was also issued motor vehicle summonses for wrong way on one way street, careless driving and possession of controlled dangerous substance(CDS) in a motor vehicle.

On June 30 at approximately 9:12 p.m.: While traveling Route 206 southbound in the area of Pottersville Road behind a tan Ford Explorer, Bedminster Police ran the vehicle registration and the registered owner returned with a suspended driver’s license and a warrant. A motor vehicle stop was conducted on Route 206 southbound in the area of Pfizer Way. Subsequent to the investigation, Raul Calixto, 48, of Edison was arrested on a traffic warrant out of Bridgewater for $33. Calixto posted bail and was processed and released. Calixto was issued motor vehicle summonses for driving after driver’s license/registration suspended/revoked and failure to return or surrender suspended driver’s license.
