Man Arrested For DUI After Car Catches Fire In Bedminster

Bedminster Police arrested 6 people for DUI, marijuana possession and outstanding warrants.

BEDMINSTER, NJ — A Scotch Plains man was arrested for driving while under the influence of liquor or drugs after his car caught fire in Bedminster.

On May 14 at around 5:13 a.m., Bedminster Police responded to Rattlesnake Bridge Road in the area of Red Tail Farm for a motor vehicle fire.

Upon arrival the officer observed a black Chevy sedan with a small fire beneath the engine bay. The officer extinguished the fire, police report.

Subsequent to the investigation the driver, Marion Buissereth, 24, of Scotch Plains was arrested for driving while under the influence of liquor or drugs and issued motor vehicle summonses for refusal to submit to a chemical test, consent to take samples of breath and failure to possess driver’s license.

The passenger, Tatyana Muhammand, 24, of Newark was also arrested on a no bail warrant out of Linden. Muhammand was turned over to Linden Police.

On May 19 at approximately 11:09 p.m.: Bedminster Police observed a red Volkswagen Jetta driving in the left lane on Route 202/206 northbound in the area of AT&T pond not passing any other vehicles. A motor vehicle stop was conducted on Route 206 northbound at Somerset Financial Drive. Subsequent to the investigation, Jerry Velez, 35, of Rahway was arrested on a warrant out of Seaside Heights for $300. Velez was unable to post bail and released on his own recognizance. Velez was issued a verbal warning for failure to keep right.

On May 14 at approximately 2:18 a.m.: While on patrol of Rattlesnake Bridge Road in the area of Burnt Mills Road Bedminster Police observed a silver Mazda 3 traveling northbound on Rattlesnake Bridge Road with an inoperable head light and an obstructed front windshield. A motor vehicle stop was conducted in the area of Fiddler’s Elbow Golf Course. Subsequent to the investigation, Michael Fernandes, 23, of Roselle Park was arrested for possession of marijuana under 50 grams, possession of drug paraphernalia and was issued motor vehicle summonses for maintenance of lamps, operation of a motor vehicle while in possession of CDS, obstruction of windshield and sell/use unapproved device/equipment.

On April 28 at approximately 11:24 p.m.: While on patrol on Route 206, Bedminster Police observed a blue Toyota Camry traveling southbound on Route 202/206 with an inoperable headlight, the vehicle was also failing to maintain its lane of travel and failing to keep right. A motor vehicle stop was conducted at Route 202/206 southbound just prior to Route 287 northbound. Subsequent to the investigation, Tyler Somwar, 18, of Bound Brook was arrested for possession of marijuana under 50 grams, possession of drug paraphernalia and issued motor vehicle summonses for failure to keep right, operation of a motor vehicle while in possession of CDS, probationary license – too many passengers/after hours, traffic on marked lanes, and maintenance of lamps.

On April 26 at 8:38 p.m.: Bedminster Police took over custody of, Brandon Adams, from Morris County Jail. Adams, 25, of Wayne was arrested on a warrant out of Bedminster Township for $280. Adams was lodged in Somerset County Jail in lieu of bail.
