Man Caught On Camera Believed Linked To Multiple Thefts In Somerset County

"Smile You're on Candid Camera!" This man seen in Bedminster may be connected to a string of thefts at various construction sites on I-287.

BEDMINSTER, NJ — A man, believed to be connected to a string of thefts at various construction sites on Interstate 287, was caught on camera at a site in Bedminster on July 1.

"People seem to do the darndest things, especially when they don't think anyone is watching. In this case, a man was caught on camera trespassing onto a construction site," New Jersey State Police posted on Facebook. "We have very clear surveillance stills, and we believe that by liking and sharing this post we can find and arrest this man."

The man was spotted at around 8:46 p.m. on video surveillance allegedly trespassing at a construction site on I-287 northbound at milepost 20 in Bedminster Township.

"The man is seen looking at equipment and talking with someone off camera. When he notices the camera, he departs the site in a commercial flat bed truck," New Jersey State Police report.

Detectives also believe that this man may be connected to a string of thefts that took place between Jan. 23 and May 31, at various construction sites on I-287. Nearly $50,000 worth of equipment, tools and compressors have been reported stolen from the sites.
