Man Who Owed $15K In Child Support Busted In Bedminster: Police

A package delivered to a Bedminster home was also reported stolen in a separate incident, according to the blotter.

BEDMINSTER, NJ — A man who owed more than $15,000 in child support was arrested recently in Bedminster.

Anthony Kinion, 51 of Easton, Pennsylvania was driving a red Dodge van with no rear license plate lights on Route 287 near exit 22 on Jan. 28 at around 12:54 a.m. when Bedminster Police pulled him over.

Kinion was arrested for a warrant out of Clifton for $55, a warrant out of Teaneck for $250 and two outstanding child support warrants totaling $15,006.63 out of Passaic County Sheriff’s Office, police reported.

Kinion was turned over to Passaic and transported to Passaic County Jail.

On Jan. 24 at 6:30 a.m.: Bedminster Police responded to Annandale to meet New Jersey State Police who had a subject in custody for a Bedminster warrant. Stephen Bortnyk, age 35 of Whitehouse Station was arrested on a FTA warrant out of Bedminster for $500. Bortnyk was lodged in Somerset County Jail in lieu of bail.

On Jan. 25 at approximately 9:51 p.m.: Bedminster Police responded to Mercer County Jail to take over custody of a subject who had a warrant out of Bedminster. Stephanie Scharko, age 46 of Hightstown was arrested on a contempt of court warrant out of Bedminster for $621. Scharko was lodged in Somerset County Jail in lieu of bail.

On Jan. 26 at approximately 3 p.m.: Bedminster Police responded to Montvale Police to take over custody of a subject who had a traffic warrant out of Bedminster. Walter Stevenson, age 39 of Dover was arrested on a Bedminster warrant for $852. Stevenson was lodged in Somerset County Jail in lieu of bail.

On Jan. 27 at 3:05 p.m.: Bedminster Police responded to a residence on Larger Cross Road for a reported theft. Upon arrival the officer spoke with the homeowner who advised she ordered some decorative items off of E-Bay that were reported to be delivered at 2:30 p.m. on Jan. 26 via an e-mail notification. Upon arrival home the packages were missing.

On Jan. 28 at approximately 6:23 p.m.: Bedminster Police responded to Cedar Court for a welfare check. Subsequent to the investigation, Mark Cekada, age 37 of Cedar Court was arrested for 2C:36-2 (possession of drug paraphernalia). Cekada was released pending his mandatory court date.

On Feb. 2 at 3:14 p.m.: Bedminster Police responded the Fresh Market (35 Washington Valley Road) on a report of fraud. Upon arrival the officer spoke with the manager who stated on Jan. 29 while cashing out the store he noticed a counterfeit $100 bill. The manager stated he realized it was fraudulent due to the way it felt and printed on the front and back the bill said “For Motion Picture use only”. The bill was forwarded to the detective bureau.
