Mendham Woman, 72, Hit In Crosswalk By Bernardsville Driver
The victim was airlifted to the hospital with injuries following the accident last week in Peapack and Gladstone.

PEAPACK AND GLADSTONE, NJ — A 72-year-old Mendham woman was hit while walking in the crosswalk by a Bernardsville driver in Peapack and Gladstone last week.
The Mendham woman had been walking in the crosswalk at the intersection of Main Street (CR- 512) and Willow Avenue on May 15 at 2:43 p.m., Peapack and Gladstone Police Sgt. Stephen Ferrante reported.
The woman was found lying in the street in the northbound lane of travel. She had been struck by a 48-year-old Bernardsville woman while attempting to cross Main Street, Ferrante said.

The victim was reportedly breathing, but unresponsive. NJ State Police Medivac transported her to Morristown Medical Center with multiple injuries, none of which are believed to be life-threatening, according to the report.
The police investigation into the incident is continuing.

"Police remind all motorists that pedestrians have the right of way at designated crosswalks," Ferrante said. "Pedestrians should be sure that oncoming vehicles come to a complete stop before proceeding into the roadway, and to use marked crosswalks when crossing any street."
