Missing Man Found Dead in Bernards Township

"Body partially submerged in an area off Martinsville Road," report says

A 61-year-old man staying with family in Bernards Township was found dead in the Dead River off Martinsville Road last night, after he was reported missing, police say.

Kewal Krishan’s body was discovered “partially submerged in an area off Martinsville Road” around 11 p.m. last night, Dec. 2 by members of the Liberty Corner Fire Company, according to Bernards Township police.

Krishan of India had been staying at a home on Chaucer Court when family members reported him missing in the early evening after he didn’t return from a walk earlier in the day.

Utilizing a blood hound canine from the Somerset County Sheriff’s Office as well as an aviation unit from the New Jersey State Police, the Bernards Township began searching the area.

A citizen reported seeing someone matching Krishan’s description walking on Martinsville Road based on a photo that police posted on their Facebook page, according to reports.

Krishan was later found deceased in the Dead River around 11 p.m. The Somerset County Prosecutor’s Office Dive Team responded to the scene and recovered the victim.

This incident is still under investigation pending autopsy.
