Olcott Avenue Historic Walking Tour in Bernardsville
Tour to familiarize residents with the Olcott Avenue Historic District which is on the National Register of Historic Places.

Members of Bernardsville’s Historic Preservation Advisory Committee (HPAC) will lead a tour of the Olcott Avenue Historic District on Sunday, September 27 at 1:00 pm. The goal is to familiarize residents with the district, which is listed on the National Register of Historic Places, and give them a better understanding of what the designation means.
The group will gather for the tour at 1:00 pm in front of the Olcott building at 25 Olcott Avenue. After the one-hour guided walk, the program will continue at Bernardsville Public Library at 2:30 pm to browse historic photos, enjoy coffee and refreshments, and have an informal discussion about historic buildings in Bernardsville, including the Dunster Squibb property which is undergoing renovation, and other historic preservation issues affecting us locally. Residents are encouraged to bring questions about their own historic projects. [In case of rain, the walk will be cancelled and the discussion at the library will start at 1:00 pm.]
HPAC was created to preserve and interpret Bernardsville’s valuable historic and cultural resources. The group has also produced a “walking tour guide” with photographs and historical notes about houses in the district. Those who come on the walk will receive a free copy (one per family). The booklets will also be available in the library’s Local History Room.
